Containment Duty Diaphragm Pumps

Containment Duty Diaphragm Pumps

Containment duty diaphragm pumps are air-operated diaphragm pumps used when leakage detection is important, especially with hazardous, toxic, corrosive, or valuable liquids. Each side of the pump has a main diaphragm and a backup diaphragm. The main diaphragm stays in contact with the liquid during normal operation, and the sealed space between the main diaphragm and the backup diaphragm works as a leak detection chamber. If the main diaphragm breaks, the liquid enters this chamber instead of reaching the air chamber or leaking directly out of the pump. Once the liquid reaches the float switch, the alarm is triggered, so operators can stop the pump before the issue leads to material loss, downtime, or safety risks.

Features
  • If the main diaphragm breaks during operation, the backup diaphragm holds the medium inside the pump instead of letting it leak out directly, giving the leak detection device time to send an alarm.
  • Leaked liquid stays inside the sealed detection chamber, giving the leak detection device time to send an alarm before the problem becomes more serious.
  • The double diaphragm structure helps prevent the medium from entering the air chamber in case diaphragm damage occurs
  • Early leak detection helps reduce material waste, production interruptions, and risks to operators or the surrounding work area.
  • Containment duty diaphragm pumps are ideal for fluids that require extra care during transfer, such as toxic, hazardous, corrosive, or high-value liquids.
