Standard Air Operated Double Diaphragm Pumps
Standard air operated double diaphragm pumps move liquids using compressed air that alternates between two chambers. This back-and-forth motion drives two diaphragms to pull fluid in and push it out, while check valves keep the flow moving in one direction. AODD pumps can handle corrosive liquids, fluids with suspended particles, high-viscosity materials, and even volatile or flammable substances. Their self-priming capability and ability to run dry make it flexible for chemical processing, food and beverage production, pharmaceuticals, wastewater treatment, and construction applications. Our air operated double diaphragm pumps are compact, portable, and low-maintenance, they provide a safe and reliable way to move fluids in environments where electricity may be unsafe or undesirable.
- As air operated double diaphragm pumps run on compressed air instead of electricity at the pump, there's lesser risks of electrical sparks, while proper grounding helps control static discharge in flammable or explosive working areas.
- The open flow path and ball check valve structure allow fluids with solid particles to pass through more easily. Depending on the model, they can handle particles of about 1.5–9.4 mm.
- Pump flow responds to outlet resistance or back pressure without a frequency inverter or reducer, so medium- and high-viscosity fluids such as slurry, glue, and paint can be transferred more steadily.
- The diaphragms move gently, handling fluids with minimal disturbance and protecting sensitive materials like yeast, plasma, flocculants, and other unstable substances from damage during transfer.
- AODD pumps can reach a suction lift of about 5–7 m and does not need priming water before startup.
- Standard air operated double diaphragm pumps can run dry for long periods without damaging the pump body. Some models can also work submerged, depending on the application.
- With no complex electrical systems, cables, or fuses, air operated double diaphragm pumps have fewer parts to maintain; the main wear parts are the diaphragms, ball valves, and valve seats.
- Compact size and lighter weight make the pump easier to move and suitable for mobile transfer tasks or flexible installation areas.
- As the diaphragm keeps the pumped medium away from the moving parts, the pump can transfer fluids with fewer leakage risks and a cleaner working area.
